Yacht Haven Bulkhead Emergency Replacement
Annapolis, Maryland
Located in across from the State capital in the Eastport neighborhood of Annapolis, the Yacht Haven Marina had more than 300 linear feet of failing timber bulkhead.
KPA designed a new bulkhead, installed inboard the existing bulkhead. The new bulkhead consisted of long-lasting vinyl-coated steel sheet piling, timber walers, and helical anchor tiebacks. The project also included the installation of new finger piers, floating docks, and repairs to an existing travel boat lift.
This fast-track project was completed on schedule. The project involved expedited design to ensure that the work could be performed during the slow winter months. This was made even more urgent by the rapidly deteriorating condition of the old timber bulkhead; it would not wait another year for replacement. KPA guided this project through expedited permit reviews because of its emergency nature. We also provided for innovative structural solutions to minimize the project’s impact on the marina, including the use of helical tiebacks instead of a traditional concrete deadman.
